Three manor surveys of Rochdale were undertaken in the first half of the 17th. Century. They contain much of interest to the archaeologist and historian, particularly in tracing medieval landholding and its development over time.

The  1610 survey was never published, but a typed transcript with hand written additions can be found here.

1626

The 1626 Manor survey was published by the Chetham Society in 1913 and edited by Fishwick. This has a wealth of historical information.

1639 Manor Survey

This survey has good coverage of the complex common land holding in Rochdale.  The survey is held in the Lancashire County Records office in Preston.
